Muhammad Saleh Al-Jaberi (1940–2009) Muhammad Saleh al-Jaberi is a Tunisianwriter, researcher, and scholar. He received his secondary education at the Ibn Khaldun School at the University of Al-Zitoun in Tunis. In 1962–1967, he worked as a teacher in primary and secondary schools in Tunisia, while simultaneously publishing literary articles in the periodicals of Tunisia and other Arab countries. In 1971, he graduated from the Department of Arabic Literature of the Faculty of Philology of Baghdad University. In the 1970s, he worked at the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, then he served as a director of the Tunisian Cultural Center in Libya. He participated in the session of young writers of Asia and Africa in Tashkent in 1976. In 1979, he became a member of ALECSO, where he headed the Department of Culture. After resigning from this post, in 2000, he was appointed head of an encyclopedic project on prominent Arab and Muslim figures and scientists. Nineteen volumes of this project have been published so far. He died on 19 June 2009 in Ariana, Tunisia. Al-Jaberi authored papers in the field of political and literary movements in the Maghreb countries, in particular in Algeria, Libya and Tunisia.
