В частности авторы рассматривают куль- турную, просветительскую, образовательную и общественно-политическую деятельность черкесской общины, размещенной в основном в двух поселе- ниях на территории Израиля: Кфар Каме и Рихании. Также статья содержит краткий исторический обзор процессов расселения черкесов на занимаемых ими ныне территориях современного Израиля. Aleksandra Zheveleva, Natalia Sokolova Circassian community in Israel Abctract: This article covers the activities of the Circassian community in modern Israel. In particular, the authors consider the cultural, educational, and socio-political activities of the Circassian community, located mainly in two settle- ments in Israel: Kfar Kama and Rehaniya. Also, the article contains a brief histori- cal overview of the processes of resettlement of the Circassians in the territories they occupy today in modern Israel. Key words: Circassians, Ottoman Empire, Israel, Circassian community, Kfar Kama, Rehaniya, the Shapsug, Abzakhs, Circassian language. Before turning to the activities of the Circassian community in modern Is- rael, it seems necessary to first briefly highlight some events of the beginning of XX century, which resulted in Circassians who lived within the boundaries of the Ottoman Empire becoming the subjects of different countries of the Middle East. The Ottoman government had been settling the Circassians mainly in the territories of modern Syria, Jordan and Israel (Palestine). A certain part of the Circassians herewith moved to the territory of modern Iraq and Saudi Arabia,
