Artists were able to recreate the unique spirit of the Caucasus on the Jerusalem scene. Eyewitnesses of the show report, “Their appearance, dances and melodies were so natural that it seemed as if the best Caucasian masters were performing, and not the native Israelis - descendants of Circassian immigrants in the sixth or seventh generation” [6]. In conclusion, it should also be noted that despite the Circassian community of Israel being relatively small- about 4,000 people living mainly in two settlements - the community’s activity if compared with those of other countries could be considered quite extensive. This can be attributed primarily to the policy of the state towards the Circassians. Sources: 1.
