XXXIII–XXXIV Kononov Memorial Lectures 28 Hüsnü Çağdaş Arslan On the Word “bošγutčï” in Old Uighur 1 Abstract: In this study, the word bošγutčï “teacher; student” which was seen in Old Uighur manuscripts and used in religious terminology is discussed. The base bošγut “educating, teaching, informing”, from which bošγutčï derives, comes from a hypothetical verb bošγu -, according to the researchers. The researchers came to this idea from the verbs bošγu-r- “to teach, to educate” and bošγu-n- “to learn, to study, to be educated” in Old Turkic. R. Rahmeti Arat went one step further and based bošγut on boš . Some researchers suppose the origin of the word * bošγu- in relation to the word bušï < Chinese 布施 bù shī . Kipchak word pošγut “laborer, ca- sual worker” is the extension of the words bošγutčï in Old Uighur and bošγut “ap- prentice” in Karakhanid. The word is not encountered after the period of Kipchak. As a result, the structure and origin of the word bošγutčï has been re-explained through previous informations briefly here. Хюсню Чагдаш Арслан О слове “bošγutčï” в древнеуйгурском языке Аннотация: В данной работе исследуется слово bošγutčï «учитель; ученик», которое встречалось в древнеуйгурских рукописях и использовалось в религиозной терминологии. По мнению исследователей, основа bošγut «обучение, преподавание, информирование», от которого происходит bošγutčï , происходит от гипотетического глагола bošγu- . Исследователи пришли к этой форме, выводя из глаголов bošγu-r- «учить, обучать» и bošγu-n- «учить, учиться, получать образование» на древнетюркском языке. Р. Рахмети Арат пошел еще дальше и произвел bošγut от boš . Некоторые исследователи предполагают происхождение слова * bošγu- по отношению к слову bušï < китайский 布施 bù shī .
