According to Anatolia News Agency the foundation of a new building of the Embassy of Russian Soviet Republic was laid on 7 November at Kavaklidere region on Cankaya way in Ankara. Russian Ambassador Suric gave a speech here. 1 The Russian Consulate organized a concert on February 1922 to help the victims of the famine in Kirim. An orchestra consisted of famous musi- cians and ballet dancers of Russia gave two different concerts for man and women. The first concert was given at the Consulate at 4 February evening after a tea meeting. At the end of the concert the orchestra played the Interna- tional March and the Turkish National Anthem composed by a music teacher Cemil Efendi from Trabzon. 2 The Russian Consulate was supporting the activities of the Russian Pub- lic Office’s Foreign Trade Branch to improve commercial relations between two countries. Some leading figures of Trabzon Muslim scholars (‘ ulama ) and merchants attended a tea meeting organized by Trabon at the Consul House at 21 April 1922 to talk about Turkish-Russian economic relations. 3 Soviet ambassadors and officers had used Trabzon route to go to An- kara during Turkish Independence War. Soviet Ambassador Aralof visited Trabzon with his team while he was going to Ankara to start his duties at the beginning of 1922. The embassy team consisted of thirty persons including K.İ. Pırjebelski, Y.D.Kapşukova, K.K. Zvonaryev, A.N. Liyakov, A.G. Katelnikov, F.İ.Valiyev, N.İ. Uspenskaya, Y.K. Dmitriyevskaya and other officers. The head of the Turkish Press Office Agaoglu Ahmet Bey (Agayev) 4 and Member of the Turkish parliament, deputy of Burdur Soysal- lioglu İsmail Suphi Bey who went to Russia for some scientific research were also traveling to Trabzon with the Russian embassy team on the Russian Commercial Ship «Feliks Dzerjinski». The team was met with great cordiality in Trabzon. Governor Ebubekir Hazim Teperyan and the Commander went to the ship personally to meet the team. Military band was also at the port.
