PETERSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY  1 Abstract: The report discusses one woodcut and four handwritten ethnographic albums of the second half of the 18 th and the first half of the 19 th centuries, stored in the Academic Library named after M. Gorky of St. Petersburg State University (AL SPbSU). They depict scenes from everyday life of representatives of small ethnic groups, inhabiting the southern Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangdong and Guanxi-Zhuang Autonomous Region. The historical circumstances of their creation are revealed. Their composition and content are analyzed and compared, unique features are found out.
