Sabelkis (Saint-Petersburg State University St. Petersburg, mariasabelkis@gmail.com ) CHINA AND ASEAN COOPERATION IN THE CONTEXT OF PREVENTING GOLDEN TRIANGLE DRUG TRAFFICKING IN THE 1990s Abstract: This article explores the main points of interaction between China and ASEAN in the context of countering the production and distribution of drugs in the Golden Triangle in the 1990s. A number of changes that distinguish this period from previous decades are identified, such as a significant increase in trafficking rates and a shift in the types of drugs produced. In addition, statistical data and key developments of the period are analysed. This cooperation is examined under the framework of ASEAN + 1 (China), ASEAN + 3 (China, South Korea, Japan), as well as interactions between China and individual countries of the organisation.
