The word bušï in Old Uighur texts appears in the following forms: bušï paramït : virtue of charity; Sanskrit [Skr.] dāna-pāramitā [2: 353, 394; 13: 563]. bušï ber- : to bestow [16: 364]; bušï bir- to charity [13: 563]; “… biš yüz sïγunlarka isig öz bušï birzün !.. möge er doch den fünfhundert Maralen ihr Leben als Almosen schenken!” [17: 192] “May he give (his) life to five hundred male deers as charity!” bušïcï “the person who receives charity”: U. III. 15, 18; 22, 9 [22; 8: 55]. bušïlïγ “the person who needs charity” [8: 55]; bušïlïk (<bušï+lïk) : as a charity [13: 563]. In the etymological dictionaries prepared by Clauson and Nadelyayev et al., they just gave the equivalents such as “teacher, instructor” to the word bošγutčï [9: 380; 23: 114]. However, the word bošγutčï was not only used in the Old Uighur texts with the equivalent of “teacher”, but also “student” [26: 188]. For example: “azu yämä qaltï bilgä bahšïlar udu bošγutčï tïtsïlar yorïyurča” [19: 119]. “…or just like the students who walk behind the wise teachers…” The word bošγutčï is seen in the texts of Old Uighur period and the some exemplary contexts in which it appears are as follows: “ Bošγutčï -lar utru bošγuru bo …” HT-V, VI, VIII, X/VIII2/14 [39: 136]. “The teachers mutually teach(ing) this…” “… bošγutčï-lar qltï arïγ-taqï sögüt …” SOBL IV 31a 8 [40: 43, 175]. “… the teachers/mentors such as willow tree in the forest…” “… munï kenki boš<γ>utčï[lar]qa, anïn učurdï köŋülin [enet]kek yeriŋä bardï. ” HT-VI 1622 [26: 84] 8 . “… this to the next students, that's how he flew (his) heart (and) arrived in India.” 9 “... bilig ögrängü täg bošγutčï bolalïm …” [42: 192]. “...
